Thinking you're spending too much time on the internet? Think again . . .
The internet continues to grow in capacity and with that the necessity for speed. Data storage costs are dropping and this trend directs us towards various new ways to communicate and break barriers between language and distance. It’s an exciting time to live and see some of these changes come about. I believe that the internet is a tool that can help people in various ways including mental health.
Like many things that can help us, too much of a good thing can hurt. With so much information at our fingertips, it’s easy to sit down at the computer and get side tracked into other topics – other than what we originally planned and before you know it, you check the time and hours have passed.
Ironically and contrary to where you may have thought I am going with this, the many topics available and links elsewhere can sharpen our minds and move us consistently and quickly from one topic to the next. In essence, instead of obsessing which can be harmful, we are doing the exact opposite.
So even though the hours have past and you're far from your original intentions, you have had the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and ideas without obsessions.
